Building Together: Newmarket Islamic Centre’s Ramadan Outreach at Cooper Masjid, Mississauga
During the blessed month of Ramadan a time of heightened spiritual reflection, generosity, and unity a dedicated team from the Newmarket Islamic Centre (NMIC) set out on a heartfelt mission: to share the vision of their growing community centre with fellow Muslims across Ontario.
One such visit brought the NMIC team to Cooper Masjid in Mississauga, where they were received with open arms, warm smiles, and the generous spirit that defines the Muslim Ummah. The visit was not simply a fundraising call it was a connection between communities, a reminder that when believers come together, great things are built.
The Vision: A Centre for Generations to Come
The Newmarket Islamic Centre is more than a building it is a dream shared by hundreds of Muslim families in the York Region. The vision is to create a comprehensive Islamic hub that will serve as a place of prayer, Quranic education, community events, and spiritual growth for generations to come.
As building permits are now approved and construction set to begin soon, the NMIC team is working tirelessly to rally support from Muslim communities near and far. Their Ramadan outreach program has taken them to masajid across the Greater Toronto Area, spreading awareness and inspiring contributions through the spirit of Sadaqah Jariyah a continuous charity whose rewards extend beyond this life.

Warm Welcome at Cooper Masjid
The NMIC team arrived at Cooper Masjid equipped with information materials, donation devices, and most importantly genuine passion for the project. The congregation at Cooper Masjid welcomed them graciously, listening attentively to the presentation and asking thoughtful questions about the centre’s progress.
Volunteers from both communities stood together, united in purpose. The donation station complete with a QR code for seamless giving made it easy for congregants to contribute on the spot. Every dollar raised during Ramadan carries extraordinary weight, given the immense spiritual reward associated with charitable giving during this sacred month.
Every Contribution Counts
The Quran reminds us: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes; in each spike a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills.” (Quran 2:261) a verse displayed prominently on the NMIC donation banner, serving as a powerful reminder of the spiritual significance of giving.
Whether a large gift or a small one, each contribution brings the Newmarket Islamic Centre one step closer to completion. The NMIC team is deeply grateful for every show of support financial, spiritual, and moral that they have received throughout their outreach journey.
