For years, the vision of a new community space for Newmarket’s Muslims lived on paper. Today, it is rising from the ground. This NIC construction update takes you inside the site to show where things stand and what comes next for our community.
What’s Happening on Site Right Now
If you have been following the NIC project, the latest drone photos tell the story. Here is what is visible on the ground:
- Concrete walls and structural cores are going up. Several tall concrete sections now stand clearly above the site, showing the building taking shape.
- Formwork and working platforms are in place. The red-and-wood platforms around the upper levels let crews form and pour the next sections of concrete safely.
- Crews are working daily. Teams in high-visibility gear are coordinating lifts, positioning formwork and keeping the site organized.
- Materials are staged and ready. Rebar, formwork panels and building materials are laid out for the next phases.
From Foundations to Walls: Why This Milestone Matters
Every large building begins below the surface. Foundations, footings and reinforcement happen first, and they are not always visible to the public. Seeing walls and structural elements rise is a turning point. It makes the project real, and it shows that community support is turning into physical progress.
A Site Surrounded by Nature
The NIC site sits among mature trees and green space in Newmarket, with homes and neighbourhoods nearby. The project is being built with its surroundings in mind, and site fencing and controls are visible throughout the photos.
What’s Coming Next
As construction continues, you can expect:
- More concrete work as additional levels and sections are completed
- Continued structural progress as the building takes its final form
- Further updates here and on our social media channels
