There is something truly special about gathering outdoors the warmth of the sun above, the aroma of food in the air, and the sound of laughter all around. Our recent BBQ gathering at Newmarket Islamic Centre was all of that and so much more. It was a day that reminded us all of one simple but powerful truth when a community comes together, something beautiful always happens.
More Than Just a BBQ
Yes, the food was delicious. But anyone who was there will tell you the best part had nothing to do with what was on the grill.
It was the conversations that stretched long after the plates were cleared. It was the children running around with unbridled joy. It was the elders sitting together, smiling at the life and energy surrounding them. It was the new faces becoming familiar ones, and the familiar ones becoming even closer friends.
